Plan object storage for files, access and usage

Plan how your application will use its objects before choosing a storage allowance.

01Identify the files and the access pattern

List what you will upload: media, application files or exported archives. Estimate how much data you store and how often it will be downloaded. Storage capacity and transfer allowance address different parts of usage.

02Organize objects and access

Decide which buckets your application needs, keep credentials private and verify the selected access settings with a test object. Use the S3-compatible client and endpoint details supplied for your service.

03Compare the full plan

Compare included storage, transfer allowance and bucket limits. Review extra storage and transfer charges separately. Revisit usage after launch rather than assuming a starting allowance fits forever.

04Test a backup restore separately

If you store backup exports, keep the export process and restoration instructions alongside your plan. A stored file alone does not prove that a website or database can be restored.

Keep exploring the details.
